TK- What was your greatest motivation in UNILAG?
Oyinda – The brethren, their pastoring, their mentorship, their love, although as the Vice President of my fellowship coming back to the hostel around 10pm almost week in and out but the brethren always helped out to relieve my stress, cook, and then my class mates like Tofunmi,(this guy that just passed), Rotimi, Tutu, (those guys were my real guys).

TK- Can you say there were no point time when acted envious towards you, like I heard in some courses you might be the only one to get A and then the next person C or D?
Oyinda- The things is I believe the best of everyone, In an environment like ours things like that can spring up but I choose to ignore it, I choose not to see it.
TK- Wow
TK- Were you on any scholarship throughout your stay in UNILAG?
Oyinda- Yes, I was on TOTAL, MTN and others, I basically sponsored myself throughout my stay in UNILAG using the Scholarship money, there is really nothing hard in getting them.
TK- Did you ever get any B that was later upgraded?
Oyinda- No, basically, I didn’t see all my results were pasted and I never saw a B, most of them were A, sorry did I say most, ALL of them were A’s.
TK- What was your lowest and highest A
Oyinda- 70 was my lowest score while 99 was my highest.
TK- why was it not 100%
Oyinda- I don’t know
Laughs

Oyinda- Actually, it’s true, I had 5/40 and the highest score was 10/40 and when that happened and I could see a threat of B, I went to meet my pastor who strengthen my faith saying let the word of God not depart from your eyes, so I knew I would get A, although the result was very bad, only one A, 3 B’s and then E’s AND F’s.
TK- Can you in anyway state the contribution of your course adviser in this great achievement?
Oyinda- Dr. Adeleye, he was a great encourager.
TK- When Ayodele Dada of Psychology broke the 5.0 record last year, how did you feel?
Oyinda- cool now, awesome, it shows someone is doing something that worth being celebrated.
TK- Did that in anyway put pressure on you?
Oyinda- I don’t allow myself to be subjected to pressure, although lecturers and everyone were anticipating so I was just rest assured in God and refused to be burdened.
TK- Are you now saying the 5.0 is a gift from God.
Oyinda- Trust me, it is a gift from God, it’s a Setup
TK- I pray for that kind of setup too oh
Oyinda- chuckles, amen oh
TK-What contribution can you attribute to your parents for all of these?
Oyinda- Well, the disciplined of reading was inculcated by my parents, like my dad reads a lot, Till Day Breaks almost every day, Christian literatures, Bible and all, their counsels at the beginning of every semester is highly inspiring, and their daily calls to check on my welfare. Also, my father is someone who doesn’t settle for the least, he keeps challenging me that I can do better.
TK- Didn’t you feel like let me be now!
Oyinda- I understand their state, being the first born and then female, obviously, they have to be concerned.
TK- Did you ever do any overnight in school?
Oyinda- Yes, in fact in this place, pointing to the LG- room passage, in year 3, when mosquito almost finished me, I knew I needed it, I started it early in the semester to balance my academics with fellowship responsibilities.
TK-How do you cope with competition having 2 other people on 5.0, Dami Dave on 4.99, Victor World Best of Mech. Engr and the rest?
Oyinda- Anyway, I stopped all forms of competition in SS2 being the best student since JS1 and then when I gained admission, I just kept focus and from year3, I stopped reading to get the highest marks but to teach my classmates because I couldn’t understand why we would be in class and 80% of us won’t understand, so I challenged myself to help my mates.

Oyinda- I may not say tips but let me just share the wisdom in which the Lord taught me, riding on the wings of those who have gone ahead give you better insight and direction to the course you are taking, also you need to understand times and season, there are times you need to understand fully and there are also times you need to just know what is expected of you and fully answer questions as suite your lecturers wish not your feeling. The best set of people to work with are your classmates, they should be your friends as they were blessings to me.
TK- Some say it’s only in UNILAG, you can get 5.0, so they are kind of getting sceptical about the whole 5.0 thing, what do you have to say about that.
Oyinda: Education in UNILAG is not a bed of roses else everyone would be getting it, or the number of first class graduate would have increased geometrically not arithmetically, it’s not something cheap, although there are some times that some beautiful things happen as some take up the challenge to do things that no one has done, what determines your CGPA is both yourself and your department.
TK-What do you have to concerning the educational system in UNILAG?
Oyinda- well, the educational system is good but it can be well improved in terms of facilities, review of courses and programmes.
TK- What do you think this great achievement of yours can help you do to help this nation,
Oyinda- The fact that it’s only UNILAG offering systems engineering shows that their many prospects and potentials the course has that are yet to be tapped, a part of it is Robotics, Computer Vision, exploring those areas will open doors to national development.
TK- Do you have any recommendations for UNILAG?
Oyinda- I think the stakeholders of UNILAG should kindly look into the area of accommodation because we just need a good learning environment.
It is for real that God rewards His Children, Oyinda says “this is a setup from God”, yes it is, One of the lecturers in Systems Engineering said and I quote, “that girl Oyinda, she well deserves the 5.0”, it’s a great privilege to have you here, your humble disposition and simplicity is a challenge, keep it up.
